Get ready to step into a dark, visceral cinematic dreamscape where post-punk poetry collides with high-art visual storytelling! Hot on the heels of their highly anticipated new full-length studio album, Dopamine Chamber—the staggering follow-up to their 2024 breakthrough Romance, produced once again by James Ford—Dublin’s unstoppable post-punk titans Fontaines D.C. have officially dropped the stunning new music video for the album track «Japan».

• The Anatomy of Cinematic Chaos: Directed by acclaimed BAFTA-winning filmmaker Luna Carmoon (who previously forged a visionary creative partnership with the band on visuals for «Here’s The Thing», «In The Modern World», and «It’s Amazing To Be Young»), the video for “Japan” is an immersive masterclass. Starring Angèle Metzger, Charlie Heaton, and Sean Black, the visual matches the song’s hypnotic intensity, atmospheric tension, and driving instrumentation. Sonically, Dopamine Chamber finds the band expanding their sonic boundaries even further, blending urgent post-punk urgency with sweeping, melancholic textures.
• A Massive Global Spotlight: The triumphs don’t stop on wax and screen. Fontaines D.C. are taking over the airwaves next week with a special edition of Later… with Jools Holland broadcast by the BBC. Filmed intimately at London’s Alexandra Palace Theatre, the episode will feature the live debut of fresh tracks off Dopamine Chamber alongside fan favorites (airing on BBC Two on November 15 and streaming via BBC iPlayer and YouTube starting October 21). Fans can also catch exclusive interviews and airplay across BBC Radio 6 Music with Steve Lamacq, BBC Radio 2 with Jo Whiley, and Radio 1’s New Music Show with Jack Saunders. Backed by an extensive global tour spanning the UK, Europe, and North America across 2026 and 2027, Fontaines D.C. are operating at the absolute zenith of modern rock.

The MusicWayATX Verdict: “Japan” and the towering achievement of Dopamine Chamber represent a triumph of visionary post-punk evolution. Fontaines D.C. are redefining what a modern rock band can achieve both in the studio and on screen.
