New York City’s rising indie-electronic trio Chanpan have officially unleashed a brilliant new single and music video: «speculations», produced alongside Oscar Scheller.

• The Anatomy of a Dancefloor Anthem: Arriving hot on the heels of their June EP autogratis and its star-studded remix companion featuring HOMESHAKE and Tom VR, «speculations» finds Chanpan’s bold sound taking a direct, exhilarating turn for the club. The track opens with deceptive acoustic intimacy before erupting into driving four-on-the-floor kicks, sparkling ear-candy synths, and a propulsive, euphoric drop. Lyrically, the song wrestles with the raw anxieties and self-doubts of launching a new music career, converting that existential uncertainty into an anthem for moving forward. As the band shares: “Speculations weigh our self-doubts from this newfound music career while ultimately choosing to move forward fearlessly. Let this song be permission to go for it and dance like no one is watching!”
• VHS Nostalgia and Global Stages: The accompanying music video, shot mostly on VHS, captures Grace Dumdaw alongside identical twin brothers Lance and Matthew Tran on a sun-drenched day trip to Coney Island, dancing along the boardwalk until sundown. It’s a fitting visual for a group whose trajectory has skyrocketed over the past year—from busking on the streets of Chinatown to fund their debut music, to making their debut festival appearance at Governors Ball, earning critical acclaim across The FADER, Clash, and NME, and scoring a stunning featured performance on COLORS. The release also coincides with the announcement of fresh headline dates across Europe and Asia for their autogratis tour.

The MusicWayATX Verdict: “speculations” is a triumph of hypnotic groove, emotional transparency, and unadulterated dancefloor joy. Chanpan prove they are one of the most exciting new acts on the global stage.
