- Labor Day Weekend is Here: It is officially a holiday weekend in Austin, which means extended Sunday shows and rooftop parties all over town. Whether you are grabbing a Lime scooter to zip between downtown sets or heading out to the hill country, the schedule is packed.
- A Touch of Latin & Global Sound: For those keeping an ear out for global rhythms, The Far Out Lounge is hosting an incredible Cumbiadelica showcase this Saturday, while Flamingo Cantina is bringing deep reggae vibes all weekend long on 6th Street.
- Barton Fest Returns: If you want to escape the downtown crowds, Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa is hosting their annual Barton Fest this Sunday at 5:00 PM.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 4
Moody Center | 8:00 PM Johnny Blue Skies & the Dark Clouds While the Moody Amphitheater rests up for next week’s Jimmy Eat World show, the massive Moody Center is picking up the slack. Sturgill Simpson’s highly acclaimed new alter-ego, Johnny Blue Skies, is bringing his genre-bending country and rock sound to the big stage for a can’t-miss arena set.
Hotel Vegas | 8:00 PM Crashing in with King Louie Kick off the weekend on East 6th with classic Hotel Vegas energy. The beloved dive is hosting Crashing in with King Louie, guaranteeing a night of raw, underground rock and roll. Grab a cheap beer, hit the patio, and soak in the true Austin indie spirit.
Flamingo Cantina | 9:00 PM Ideal Collective Presents: Labor of Love Showcase Head to 6th Street’s “Good Vibes Headquarters” for a massive local hip-hop showcase to start your Labor Day weekend. Featuring Ideal’s own Rowski and Salus Herb, plus local favorites Grim Village and GSmith, it’s a night of absolute passion for the Austin underground music scene.
ACL Live at 3TEN | 8:00 PM Alex Lambert w/ Caroline Hale Start your Friday night with some intimate soul-country, pop, and R&B. Alex Lambert is taking over the 3TEN stage at ACL Live, offering a closer, more personal performance space right next to the iconic Moody Theater.
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 5
Flamingo Cantina | 9:00 PM (Doors) JJ and the Mystics + Darius Jackson w/ Bal’Head and the High Top Fades Put on your green and gold and get your dancing shoes ready. Flamingo Cantina is hosting a stellar night of reggae featuring JJ and the Mystics, followed by local guitar impresario Darius Jackson. Expect incredible rhythms, heavy bass, and pure positive energy late into the night.
The Far Out Lounge & Stage | 7:00 PM Los Mirlos (Cumbiadelica) This is the highlight for anyone who loves deep, rhythmic global sounds. Legendary Peruvian psychedelic cumbia pioneers Los Mirlos are headlining the Cumbiadelica event. It is going to be a mesmerizing night of intricate guitar work and classic Latin grooves under the stars.
The Continental Club | 8:00 PM The Peterson Brothers – Glenn Jr.’s Birthday Bash Keep the energy high on South Congress as local soul and blues heavyweights, The Peterson Brothers, take the stage to celebrate Glenn Jr.’s birthday at Austin’s most historic club.
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 6
Shiner’s Saloon | 6:00 PM Fourth & Funny: The Last Sunday without Football Enjoy the Labor Day Eve vibe downtown at Shiner’s Saloon. They are hosting a special live event to mark the very last Sunday before football season takes over the screens. [Free / Open to Public]
Downtown Speakeasy | 8:00 PM Sunday Funday Live Music Since Monday is a holiday, Sunday night is the perfect time to stay out late. Speakeasy is keeping the weekend rolling with live music right in the heart of downtown.
