Direct from the desert-rock crucible and fueled by legendary rhythmic thunder, rock royalty Queens of the Stone Age have officially unleashed their gripping new single and music video: «Run Away From the Mob».
Serving as the monumental closing track on their upcoming nine-song studio album Perfecth (dropping October 30 via Matador Records), «Run Away From the Mob» is the culmination of a project forged from fearlessness and composed of equal parts reflection and ferocity. Produced by Josh Homme alongside bandmate Michael Shuman, the track features Homme’s signature soaring falsetto combining with swaggering instrumentation originally recorded way back in 2013 alongside close collaborator Dave Grohl on drums, with the song finally coming into its full, devastating potential more than a decade later. “The reason these songs didn’t get finished until now is because I wasn’t qualified to finish them, yet,” Homme admits. Lyrically, the track functions as a profound letter: “A last one, addressed to an oldest son—’if you’re reading this, everything went wrong, and here’s what you have to do’. The end is the sound of a father standing behind his son.” Following prior album drops like «Where the Goth Girls At?», «Insignificant Other», and «Easy Street», the record was crafted in the spirit of Kintsugi—the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold—mapping hard-won clarity across love, survival, and renewal alongside bandmates Troy Van Leeuwen, Dean Fertita, and Jon Theodore.
The MusicWayATX Verdict: “Run Away From the Mob” is a triumph of monolithic groove, emotional depth, and heavyweight rock legacy. Queens of the Stone Age prove once again that they operate in a league entirely of their own.
