September is Hispanic Heritage Month and KLRU is celebrating with a range of special programs and events that celebrate the Latino experience.

Year round, KLRU provides content and events that give a diverse perspective on our community. This month, we’re focusing much of our programming, events and special web content to coincide with the broadcast of the PBS landmark series Latino Americans.

Latino Americans, a six-part PBS documentary, chronicles the rich and varied history and experiences of Latinos over the course of 500 years. The series will air in 2-part segments on Tuesday September 17, September 24, and October 1 at 7pm. It will also be aired in Spanish on KLRU’s Vme channel (18.4) over 6 consecutive Fridays beginning September 20 at 9pm.

Vamos al Baile, a 1-hour special featuring some of Austin’s most renowned musicians, captures the different styles of Mexican-American music and the family atmosphere of the dance halls in which they are performed. Airs Thursday, September 26 at 8pm.
