- A Blues Legend in the House: We are incredibly lucky this week to host the iconic Buddy Guy for his 90th birthday celebration tour at Austin City Limits Live (ACL Live & 3TEN ACL Live) Click to open side panel for more information . A true living piece of blues history passing through our city is something local music historians won’t want to miss.
- Let’s Fund Good: The “Interplanetary Help Desk” continues its fantastic charity run this weekend, raising money for 24 Austin nonprofits by throwing tribute album parties and showcases across venues on the East Side and the Drag.
- A Blast of Global Sound: If you’ve been looking for dynamic Latin alternative and ska, this weekend has several spots popping off downtown with deep grooves and serious rhythmic energy.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 28
Austin City Limits Live (ACL Live & 3TEN ACL Live) | 8:00 PM Buddy Guy 90 (with Ally Venable) It does not get more historic than this. The legendary Buddy Guy hits the iconic Moody Theater stage. For anyone who appreciates the deep roots and history of blues and rock—much like the legacy of our own Stevie Ray Vaughan—this is an absolute must-see event.
HOTEL VEGAS
HOTEL VEGAS | 6:00 PM Let’s Fund Good: Kendrick Lamar Album Party Kick off the weekend on East 6th. Interplanetary Help Desk is taking over the beloved East Side patio for a massive Kendrick Lamar album party. Great hip-hop energy, cheap drinks, and it all benefits 24 local Austin nonprofits.
Flamingo Cantina
Flamingo Cantina | 9:00 PM Los Kurados and the Mau Mau Chaplains Head to 6th Street’s “Good Vibes Headquarters” for a fantastic fusion of sound. Los Kurados brings an incredible dose of Latin ska and Rock en Español energy to the open-air deck, followed by local reggae staples the Mau Mau Chaplains. Perfect for dancing the night away.
Mala Vida
Mala Vida | 4:00 PM / Late Capital Perreo & Frikitona Friday Right down the street, the multi-level club space at Mala Vida is hosting an epic night of reggaeton and Latin urban beats. Start the weekend early at 4:00 PM for Capital Perreo, and keep the party rolling late into the night.
