Telenova ▶️ Happy

Step into a cinematic dreamscape where retro soul meets modern melancholy and the universal search for peace takes center stage! The beloved Melbourne-based indie-pop trio Telenova have officially returned with their stunning new single and companion visualizer, “Happy,” marking their first fresh material since the release of their acclaimed sophomore album, THE WARNING, earlier this year.

  • The Anatomy of a Heart Cry: Emerging directly from the confessional unease of their recent album cycle, “Happy” is a masterclass in emotional duality—part optimism, part desperation, and entirely yearning. Co-written and co-produced alongside ARIA-winning heavy-hitter Styalz Fuego (known for his work with Troye Sivan, Mallrat, and Foster The People) and mixed by Cameron Parkin, the track brilliantly pairs the soulful, heartbeat rhythm of a 1960s Motown ballad with the dark, melancholic sheen of noughties Scandinavian pop. Anchored by frontwoman Angeline Armstrong’s aching refrain, “I just want to be happy,” the song gives raw, unvarnished voice to the modern desire for contentment amidst global uncertainty. As Armstrong explains: “Despite the tough exteriors, the ‘having it together’, the nonchalant facades that a lot of us out there wear, we’re all masking hurts, disappointments, insecurities at times. ‘Happy’ is a bit of a ‘heart cry’.”
  • From Studio to Iconic Stages: The release of “Happy” arrives just in time to fuel Telenova’s momentum as they head into a busy live season. Following regional tour dates across Tasmania and Victoria this November, the band is gearing up for a massive national support slot with Spacey Jane this December—including a breathtaking landmark performance at the iconic Sydney Opera House Forecourt.

The MusicWayATX Verdict: “Happy” is a triumph of sophisticated songwriting and emotional resonance. Telenova prove once again that vulnerability is their greatest superpower.
