Outernational’s latest music video is a live video filmed this past year at SXSW 2014. The video is a collaboration between the NYC rebel rock band and Wayne Kramer, former guitarist of the radical 1970’s “proto-punk” group the MC5. Filmed March 2014 at the Grammy Museum’s SXSW showcase tribute to the Rolling Stones, the song is ‘Heartbreaker’:
The police in New York City / chased a boy right through the park
In a case of mistaken identity / they put a bullet in his heart
Heartbreaker / with your forty four / I want to tear your world apart
The music video, edited by Outernational guitarist Leo Minimum Tek mixes live footage with images of over a dozen “stolen lives”: unarmed people of color killed by police in the USA in 2014. Every photo has a story behind it, and every story is a familiar one: police cover-ups, deadly excessive force, blatant racism, community outrage, another stolen life by so-called ‘law enforcement’
HEARTBREAKER performed by OUTERNATIONAL & WAYNE KRAMER, March 13, 2014, Austin, Texas, USA at SXSW’s GRAMMY MUSEUM TRIBUTE TO THE ROLLING STONES. Filmed by BLAKE BOWLES. Music Video by MINIMUM TEK dedicated to FERGUSON MISSOURI.
